Primary Training Courses
Module 1: General Safety at Height
Risk assessments; Basic legislation; Fall protection planning, Collective fall prevention measures; Cat ladders; Portable Weight Anchors; Portable gantry overhead fall arrest systems; Overhead fall arrest systems; Portable ladders; Fixed anchors & safety lines; Structural anchor identification & evaluation; Rescue provision, Inspections of equipment; Care & storage of PPE; Identification, application and use of PPE. Module 1 is aligned with SAQA Unit Standard 229998. It is recommended that learners are certified competent in Module 1 before attending further modules.
Module 2: Low Height Fall Protection
Use of Low Height FAS™ in various applications for access, fall arrest, restraint, evacuation, egress, rescue and inspection.
Module 3: Rooftop Safety at Height
Roof edge protection; Skylight fall protection; Portable weight anchors; Fixed rooftop anchors & safety lines; Fragile rooftop fall arrest, restraint & rescue; Portable roof access systems.
Module 4: Scaffolding Safety at Height
Basic knowledge of scaffold design, erection, inspection, certification and dismantling; Protection when erecting, climbing, working and dismantling.
Module 5: Tower & Pylon Safety at Height
Use of tower fall arrest systems; Rescue provision; evacuation.
Module 6: Mobile Elevated Platform Safety at Height
Use of mechanical evacuation equipment; Rescue provision; Movement between a MEWP and structures.
Module 7: Forestry Fall Arrest & Evacuation
Identifying safe anchors in trees; Rigging and use of forestry fall arrest systems for climbing, fall arrest, restraint, positioning and evacuation; Rescue provision.
Module 8: Tanker Fall Arrest & Evacuation
Use of overhead fall arrest-evacuation devices for fall arrest and evacuation.
Module 9: Tanker Fall Arrest & Restraint
Use of SpanLine™ fixed tanker systems with mechanical double reel fall arresters for fall arrest and restraint; Evacuation from tanker.
Module 10: Tank & Silo Safety at Height
Use of fall arrest equipment to access tanks and connection to fixed horizontal safety lines for fall arrest; Rescue provision.
Module 11: Confined Space Access, Egress & Rescue
Principles of confined space entry; Tripods and Davit systems; Mechanical man-riding equipment; Rescue.
Module 12: Portable Guarded Access Systems
Assembly, Use and Dismantling.
Module 13: Emergency Evacuation
Evacuation from structures using mechanical evacuation devices.
Module 14: Post Fall Arrest Rescue
Suspension trauma; Remote access post arrest rescues from various structures. Module 14 is aligned with SAQA Unit Standard 229995.
