Kee Klamp Fall Arrest A-Frame at Transnet Rail Engineering
FPEW recently designed, supplied, fabricated and certified over a hundred Guarded Access Systems of which 31 were Kee Klamp Fall Arrest A-Frames for Transnet Rail Engineering in South Africa.
The systems were designed in conjunction with a Kee Safety engineer and an in-house AutoCAD designer to produce a strong and high quality anchor frame system. Fabrication was performed by highly skilled and experienced technicians using high-tech tools.
A-Frames used for the purpose of fall arrest are used over low height fall risk zones where personnel can fall to the ground, causing injury or death. Transnet required 31 such systems to protect its workers against fall injuries when performing engineering work on railways rolling stock. Fall Arrest A-Frames, which are used in conjunction with Mechanical Fall Arrest Devices, are very effective controls which will arrest falls so quickly that rescue provision is unnecessary. FPEW A-Frames are fitted with 8x 250kg castor wheels of which the outer wheels are lockable. The structure is fabricated using high tensile 48.3mm galvanised steel tubing with a 4mm wall and galvanised Kee Klamps. The result is a mobile anchor A-Frame system which will fit over all low height structures, but which is extremely strong and hardwearing. The system can be fitted with 3x Mechanical Fall Arrest Devices for three persons’ use. The A-Frame is designed according to the needs of clients and usually built / certified on-site.
The A-Frames can also be fabricated from Aluminium Kee Lite components
